Professional FIFA esports player, Alex ‘Shawrey’ Shaw, has joined Horizon Union’s competitive FIFA line-up following a three-year stint at Hashtag United

Manchester, UK: Gaming and esports organisation, Horizon Union (Horizon), has expanded its competitive esports roster with the signing of professional FIFA player, Alex ‘Shawrey’ Shaw.

The signing, Horizon’s first FIFA player, signifies the organisation’s intention to continue scaling its esports teams by adding a second gaming title to the roster.

Shawrey, who is based in the UK, joins Horizon after a successful venture at Hashtag United and has been competing in FIFA for the last five years.  Shawrey’s career highlights include achieving a top 4 place at the ePremierLeague FIFA 20, as well as appearing in the top 9 at the FUT Champions Cup 5 FIFA 21.

Commenting on his move to Horizon, Shawrey said: “I’m absolutely buzzing to be joining Horizon Union and extremely excited to represent the club as a FIFA player and content creator. With the release of FIFA’s roadmap and so many upcoming competitions, I cannot wait to be going full force under the Horizon banner.”

Based in Manchester, UK, Horizon entered the esports space earlier this year with a professional APEX Legends team following the acquisition of European esports team, Top Dogs. The organisation is  home to an influencer roster of 45 creators, who drive and deliver content across gaming channels, and now, two esports teams.

Kieran Wood, Co-Founder & Operations and Commercial Lead at Horizon, said: “We're extremely excited to be bringing on Alex ‘Shawrey’ Shaw to Horizon. Shawrey has been nothing short of a true professional in the industry and our ongoing competitive developments and plans for FIFA, alongside Alex, are merely scratching the surface.

“With Horizon's recent developments in Apex Legends we’re ecstatic to now be adding FIFA to our line-up as we continue to scale in the esports industry.”
